There is no cure for NF2. There is yet to be a medication that will shrink all 3 NF2 tumor types (Schwannomas, Meningiomas and Ependymomas) that are found in individuals with NF2. The tumor types that have shrunk from medication have only been effective up to a certain percentage. But the medications do not even work for everyone.
We desperately need funding for research and trials.
Hospitals with NF Clinics, like NYU, include a complete list of doctors working with NF. Additional advantages include the opportunity of joining in a Clinical Trial and doctors who have experience helping others with NF.
While none of the current medical trials have been found yet to stop ALL tumor development, or even work for everyone, but that they help at all is a good sign of advancement in winning the battle against NF2.
The following are trials being at NYU :
This trial will be starting October 2011. Talk to your doctor for more information on joining the trial.
