Neurofibromatosis. Hard to pronounce? Try living with the most common neurological disorder. Neurofibromatosis (NF) is divided into NF1, affecting every 1 in 4,000 births and NF2 affecting 1 in every 40,000 births. NF is known to cause cognitive disorders, chronic muscle and joint pain, the growth of several tumors on the spine, brain, just about anywhere in the human body. There is no treatment o...r cure for NF, other than surgery. Often surgery is not an option due to the complexity of the surgery. Often after surgery, a tumor(s) grow back. If a cause and cure are to be found for NF in the near future, government, the medical community, and the general public must be made fully aware of the scope of Neurofibromatosis. |
Listening to music is an integral part of auditory therapy; and in fact last year there was groundbreaking R&D out of Northwestern University that positively showed correlation between music appreciation and speech discrimination in noise using new brain imaging techniques. To further these goals, I created this group as a fun place where members ...-- Cochlear Implant (CI) users, experts, and even by invitation a few musicians & performers -- can freely discuss CI compatibility; and post links to songs so others can discuss & comment on them ("Cue It or Screw It!") whether it sounds any good for them &/or if their CI kiddies like it. |
